This session will teach editors and managers how to manage teams working virtually around the world.
In the wake of COVID-19 bringing remote work into everyone’s lives, Grist Executive Editor Nikhil Swaminathan will speak to how he’s managed his newsroom and team of editors and reporters remotely throughout his tenure at the leading nonprofit environmental news site. Nikhil will share his tips and leadership advice and his personal experience working from Atlanta with his publication based in Seattle, and how Grist was able to smoothly handle the transition to remote work during coronavirus, and how newsrooms can adapt in the future and what changes the industry will face after the global pandemic.
Nikhil Swaminathan is an award-winning journalist and the executive editor of Grist, the leading environmental news site. Previously, he led the publication’s environmental justice coverage. He’s held editorial positions at Scientific American, Al Jazeera America, GOOD, Archaeology and others. Prior to joining Grist, he was in the inaugural class of Ida B.
