Davar Ardalan is the Founder and Storyteller in Chief of IVOW, a tech startup bringing cultural intelligence to AI. IVOW stands for Intelligent Voices of Wisdom. The company helps clients incorporate cultural richness, inclusive datasets, and traditional storytelling solutions into their technology. Ardalan is a veteran journalist who worked in public media for over 20 years, most of those at NPR News. As an award-winning producer, she specialized in stories anchored in multiculturalism and her real-time story campaigns cultivated thought leaders across social media. Ardalan created IVOW together with former NPR journalists Robert Malesky and Kee Malesky, to contextualize culture for brands and enterprises. Prior to this, Ardalan was Deputy Director of the White House Presidential Innovation Fellowship Program in Washington, D.C. and before that the Managing Editor of Hanson Robotics where she helped design Sophia the Robot’s AI. Ardalan has been featured in Forbes and AI Trends and has been recognized with a 2017 NASA Team Leadership award, a Gracie Award from the American Women in Radio and Television and a shout-out in the popular comic strip Zippy. In May 2014, she was the recipient of a United States Ellis Island Medal of Honor, for individual achievement and for promoting cultural unity.
