At the local level, a reader’s participation in the news has come to be an essential part of the process. During a pandemic, the circumstance demands for increased exchanges of engagement that improve information needs. From story selection to reporting and distribution, COVID-19 put an immediate strain on a reporter’s ability to work with their communities, and produce fully inclusive coverage.
