U.S. journalism programs punt amidst Covid-19 shutdowns
When hundreds of U.S. journalism schools went online practically overnight, the challenge to keep students learning about and covering the news ramped up. Students were far-flung and without their usual newsgathering equipment, so educators had to quickly pull together a new kind of toolkit to facilitate news production with free or seriously cheap apps and programs. What they learned could change our thinking about how to teach, learn and do journalism in 2020 and beyond.
