The Start-Up Alley is part of the ONA20 Everywhere Midway, a futures lab for tomorrow’s journalism, bringing together the best thinking in the media technology, tools and workforce space.
Your start-up exists because you wanted to disrupt the existing ecosystem. That’s why ONA is interested in introducing you to our global community of digital journalists. We are looking for innovative tools that can help elevate the online media space. We want people confident in what they have created and excited to demonstrate it in interactive ways.
ONA defines start-ups as ventures that have not been operating for more than 24 months and we offer those groups a deeply discounted rate to support participation at our annual conference. Start-ups are allowed to participate in the Start-Up Alley a maximum of two times.
The ONA20 Everywhere Midway will feature one day specifically focused on the Start-Up Alley, including the focused promotion of participating start-ups and programming by selected start-ups.
Any group applying for the Start-Up Alley may also simultaneously apply to participate in Midway programming at ONA20 Everywhere. Consideration for Midway programming will be contingent on acceptance into the Start-Up Alley.
There is a brief application to submit by Sept. 3, 2020. All applicants also must participate in a phone call or video chat about their start-up. You may schedule your conversation with Hanaa Rifaey by emailing midway@journalists.org.
If selected for the Start-Up Alley, the sponsorship cost is $300. The package includes:
- 2 conference passes
- One ONA membership (must be one of the registered attendees)
- Basic Level placement on ONA’s Midway Center, with ability to make connections with attendees/schedule appointments/host video meetings
- Opportunity to pitch Midway sessions
- Name listed on ONA20 digital sponsor signage
- Name in conference e-mail newsletters (opt-in audience 12,000+)
- ONA Industry Directory Listing (1 year)
