How we automated our website without losing our newsroom

99% of what you see on our pages is placed there by an artificial intelligence algorithm that our editors trained

Many journalists don’t love or trust audience data. How did we change our 175-year-old newsroom’s culture to the point where our editors were willing to hand the keys over the machine? This session is aimed at senior editors and newsroom managers who are struggling with getting their journalists on board with data, particularly when they have put up a paywall (as we did) or are considering putting up a paywall. It is also a look at an effective method that we used to deploy resources to reporting and editing, ie, producing fine journalism, rather than shuffling content around our main landing pages.
